REQUIREMENTS 

  • Follow the Idaho Division of Building Safety permitting procedures and drawings application, found here
  • Wait for Idaho Division of Building Safety to approve application and drawings. 
  • Installer should consult the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) to verify codes, permitting, and regulations. 
  • Review Fall River's Net Metering Tariff here
  • Submit the following to netmetering@fallriverelectric.com before installing any electrical equipment: 
    • Net Metering Application 
    • An accurate and detailed One Line Diagram from the power generation equipment to the system point of interconnection.
    • A site map is required to show the location of all the components; and 
    • Cut sheets and documentation of all components and equipment to be installed. 
  • Montana requires that a licensed Electrical Contractor or a contractor that holds a Limited Electrical Contractors license file for an electrical permit. Montana permit information can be found here
  • Installer should consult local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) to verify codes, permitting, and regulations. 
  • Review Fall River's Net Metering Tariff here.
  • Submit the following to netmetering@fallriverelectric.com before installing any electrical equipment: 
    • Net Metering Application

  • Fill out and submit the Wyoming Department of Fire Prevention and Electrical Safety building plan review packet found here.
  • Wait for Wyoming Department of Fire Prevention and Electrical Safety to approve the building plan review packet. 
  • Installer should consult local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) to verify codes, permitting, and regulations. 
  • Review Fall River's Net Metering Tariff here
  • Submit the following to netmetering@fallriverelectric.com before installing any electrical equipment:  
    • Net Metering Application 
    • An accurate and detailed One Line Diagram from the power generation equipment to the system point of interconnection. 
    • A site map is required to show the location of all the components; and 
    • Cut sheets and documentation of all components and equipment to be installed. 

Review: Fall River Rural Electric will review the project and determine if any upgrades to the electrical grid are needed or if you are fine to proceed. Upgrades are an additional expense, so we recommend completing this step before proceeding with your purchase. 

Install your system: This step should be done once you have received approval from Fall River Rural Electric and have secured any required building and electrical permits. 

Net Metering Verification Form: After your system has been installed and has passed a state or city electrical inspection, submit the Net Metering Verification form. After Fall River Rural Electric receives this form, we will conduct a site visit and set up your account to be net metered. 

Disconnect:  Your renewable energy system must include a UL listed AC disconnect switch that provides a visible break, is lockable in the open position, and is located within 10 feet of the meter and the sub-panel or other connection to the generating facility. Your disconnect switch must be accessible to Fall River Rural Electric personnel at any time of the day. 

Inverter: All inverters shall be IEEE 1547 and UL 1741 listed. 

NEC: All installations shall meet the requirements found in the latest National Electric Code (NEC). 

Other: 

  • Have a generating capacity of not more than 25 kilowatts (kW)

  • Use solar, wind, or small hydropower (or another renewable resource) to create energy

  • Be located on the premises of a Fall River owner-member

  • Operate in parallel with the Fall River distribution system
