  2. Home Improvement Rebates

You may qualify for a rebate when you make energy efficient investments in your home. This year Fall River Electric set aside over $320,000 in rebates for homeowners and commercial businesses that are served by the Cooperative. Specific conditions apply and some rebates require documentation of pre-existing conditions.

If you have any questions about our Home Efficiency Rebates, please call our Energy Conservation Specialist toll-free at 1-800-632-5726 or from anywhere in eastern Idaho at 208-652-7431. To apply for a rebate use the appropriate forms shown below.

 

Appliance Rebates

Buying a new clothes washer or clothes dryer? You could qualify for a rebate. Appliances must be Energy Star qualified and installed within a residence served by Fall River. Go to www.energystar.gov to see current list of qualifying models.

Clothes washer     $30
Clothes dryer         $35

No pre-authorization is necessary to receive an appliance rebate.

Unitary Heat Pump Water Heater

Unitary Heat Pump Water Heater - Heat pump water heaters are up to 50% more efficient than standard electric water heaters. To heat water, heat pump technology is used to extract heat from surrounding air and transfer it into the storage tank.

Window Replacement Rebate

Requires pre-inspection

If you have old single pane with or without storms in any frame type OR double pane metal framed windows in your home, you may qualify for a rebate of up to $5.50 per square foot of glazing. The rebate is available for existing single-family or manufactured homes with primary electric heat. Prime window replacements must have a U-Factor of .30 or less. Patio doors must have a U-value of .35 or less. Replacement installation that results in increased window area is not allowed under this program. You must contact Fall River’s Energy Conservation Specialist to have a pre-inspection to determine if you qualify for this rebate. Exterior Door Rebate

Requires a pre-inspection

A rebate of $30 is now available for each un-insulated or otherwise substandard exterior door you replace at your home as long as your home is primarily electric heat. This rebate is available for single family or manufactured homes. Replacement doors MUST be pre-hung Energy Star qualified doors and MUST include replacement of the threshold too.

Insulation Rebate

Requires pre-inspection & an energy audit

Add insulation to your attic, floors, or walls and save money on heating and cooling all year-round. Rebates are available for existing single-family or manufactured homes with primary electric heat. Rebates vary according to your specific pre-existing conditions. You must contact Fall River’s Conservation Specialist to have a pre-inspection to qualify for this rebate. Current rebate amounts are listed on FRE's Weatherization Rebate Chart.

Electronic Thermostats Rebate

A rebate is now available for single-family or manufactured homes with electric-resistance zonal heat (baseboard, radiant ceiling cable or wall mounted) homes that replace bi-metal line voltage thermostats with new line voltage electronic thermostats, rebate is $15.00 per unit.

There is also a rebate of $100 available for Smart thermostats for homes with electric forced-air furnace, air source heat pumps and ground-source heat pumps as their home’s primary heat system. This measure is available for existing and new construction single family or manufactured residential homes but is limited to two thermostats. Smart thermostats may be installed by the homeowner or an HVAC contractor to quality for the rebate. The thermostat used must be one that is listed as a BPA Qualified Product.

Manufactured Homes

An incentive of up to $1,000 is available on the purchase of a new Energy Efficient Manufactured home.

The qualifying manufactured home must be electrically heated, new, and be designed constructed, and certified by the Northwest Energy Efficient Manufactured Housing program (NEEM).

Ductless Heat Pump Rebate

MEMBERS INTERESTED IN HEAT PUMP REBATES ARE TO CONTACT FALL RIVER ELECTRIC FOR DETAILS

Ductless Heat Pump Rebate

A rebate of up to $550 is available for new ductless heat pump projects. The ductless heat pump must be installed in an existing single-family or manufactured home with primary  electric heat within the Fall River service territory. Each home qualifies for only one heat pump rebate. The ductless heat pump must be installed according to manufacturer’s specifications, by the Northwest DHP Project Best Practices Guide, by a licensed contractor. 

A rebate of $70 is also available for upgrades to existing heat pumps.

Geothermal (Ground Source) Heat Pump Rebate

MEMBERS INTERESTED IN HEAT PUMP REBATES ARE TO CONTACT FALL RIVER ELECTRIC FOR DETAILS

PTCS Geothermal (Ground Source) Heat Pump Rebate
Requires pre-approval

A rebate of up to $2,500 is available for new geothermal heat pump projects for new construction or existing* single-family homes with permanently installed electric heat served by Fall River. Ground source heat pump systems must be ENERGY STAR qualified and installed according to the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA) specifications available at the time of the installation by a technician certified in PTCS and IGSHPA. This rebate requires pre-approval and only one rebate is available per home.

*For existing homes, only ground source heat pumps replacing an electric forced air furnace, an electric boiler used by hydronic heating, or an air source heat pump.

Air Source Heat Pump Rebate

MEMBERS INTERESTED IN HEAT PUMP REBATES ARE TO CONTACT FALL RIVER ELECTRIC FOR DETAILS

PTCS Air Source Heat Pump Rebate
Requires pre-approval

A rebate of up to $1,100 is available for air source heat pump projects for new or existing single-family and manufactured homes served by Fall River. New heat pumps must have a Heating Season Performance Factor (HSPF) of 9.0 or higher, and a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating (SEER) of 14.0 or higher. Heat pump installation must adhere to the latest version of the BPA/PTCS Air Source installation standards and must be performed by a PTCS certified technician. Only one heat pump per home qualifies, unless the home has more than 4,500 sq. ft. of heated floor space. If there is more square footage, then the home may qualify for two rebates.

Air Source Heat Pump Conversion without PTCS

A rebate of up to $700 is available for air source heat pump projects for new or existing single-family and manufactured homes served by Fall River. Existing heat system type must be electric forced air (conversion) to high efficiency ducted heat pump without installing to PTCS specifications.
