Whether you are building a deck, planting a tree, or installing a mailbox, you must call 811 at least two days before you begin digging.
Dial 811 a few days prior to digging. Every digging job requires a call – even small projects like planting trees or shrubs. Tell the operator who answers your 811 call, what type of work you will be doing and your local utilities will be notified about your intent to dig. They will send a locator to mark the approximate location of your underground lines, pipes, and cables, so you know what is below, and dig safely.
If you call Digline using a cell phone, we suggest you use the following numbers rather than 811 to avoid getting an out-of-the-area operator:
Idaho – 800.342.1585
Montana – 800.424.5555
Wyoming – 800.849.2476
Calling Digline can avoid injury and the expense of repairing damaged underground services.
